For the sequel to such an iconic movie, there have to be some wonderful fashions, right? We thought so too! Costume designer for Mama Mia: Here We Go Again, Michele Clapton understood this, as well as how to make the costumes work for each character.
The actresses were up for anything, which made Michele’s job easier. She designed fun, girly, and flirty costumes for the ladies, making sure they could move in them for those musical numbers!
For the main character, Donna (both the “young” version, played by Lily James, and the original, played by Meryl Streep) – the outfit was a very important feature. Both Lily and Meryl rock a pair of overalls with a light tee shirt in the film – a “signature look.”
