Charles Melton shared a very sweet moment with his co-star Yara Shahidi. The Sun Is Also a Star actor recently talked about what sparked his on-screen romance with the actress.
“When we had our chemistry read, she shared a pop tart with me and in my mind, I’m thinking, ‘This is the first time we’ve met and I’m eating this delicious homemade pop tart,’” Melton explained to Us Weekly.
He assumed she always shared her food with her co-stars, but then he found out that she did not. The kind gesture made Melton feel special, which helped kick start their character’s chemistry.
Off-screen, Melton is dating his Riverdale co-star Camila Mendes. The celebrity couple joined their fellow Riverdale castmates at the Met Gala together just on Monday in NYC. Shahidi also attended the 2019 fashion event.
Melton added that he can relate to his role in The Sun is Also a Star. He believes that Daniel’s qualities as a hopeless romantic and a writer resonate with him. Melton explained to Us Weekly that he wears his heart on his sleeve and enjoys writing.
