Hallmark Channel is known for their Christmas films, and it’s no different for their Movie & Mysteries Channel. This year, as a part of their “Miracles of Christmas” event, they will be premiering a new movie called Christmas Tree Lane. Get more details about the cast and the film below!
Christmas Tree Lane Cast + Plot
Christmas Tree Lane centers on Meg Reilly (Alicia Witt), a singer who shares her passion with voice students in her father’s (Drake Hogestyn) music store on Christmas Tree Lane. In addition to teaching, Meg is also helping plan a Christmas festival to draw in more customers, as the small store has been struggling lately.
While all this is going on, Meg meets Nate Williams (Andrew Walker), a businessman who’s passing through town, but whose connection to a developer may be the key to saving her dad’s store.
If Alicia Witt looks familiar, it’s because she joined Netflix’s hit show Orange is the New Black for its seventh and final season. Other credits include: Nashville, Twin Peaks, Friday Night Lights, The Mentalist, and many more TV spots. Alicia has done almost as many films, such as Vanilla Sky, Two Weeks Notice, and 88 Minutes, just to name a few.
This isn’t Alicia’s first time in a Hallmark movie either: she’s actually been in seven of the network’s holiday films prior to this one. Her first one was in 2013, and was called A Very Merry Mix-Up.
As if her resumé wasn’t impressive enough, she’s also an accomplished singer in real life. Alicia released her debut album in 2015 and played at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. Even cooler? Alicia wrote an original song for Christmas Tree Lane! She is an executive producer and is responsible for the film’s story too.
Like Alicia Witt, Andrew Walker is a Hallmark movie veteran – he’s been in almost 20 films in the last eight years! Some of his more recent ones include: Snowed-Inn Christmas alongside Bethany Joy Lenz, Merry & Bright with Jodie Sweetin, and Christmas on My Mind co-starring Ashley Greene. He too has also been known to sing – he and Bethany Joy Lenz even sang a song for Snowed-Inn Christmas! You can check that out below:
Drake Hogestyn is somewhat of a TV legend, best known for his longstanding role as John Black in the iconic soap opera Days of Our Lives. He’s originated that role since 1986! Before his Hollywood days, Hogestyn attended the University of South Florida on a baseball scholarship. He was even drafted by the New York Yankees, and played third base on their minor league team until he was injured in 1978. Drake’s married to his high school sweetheart Victoria; they’ve got 4 kids together.
Any other details?
Christmas Tree Lane will be one of Hallmark Movie & Mysteries Channel’s first films in their “Miracles of Christmas” event, and it will debut this weekend. Hallmark has even released a sneak peek and preview clip from the film, so you can get a sense of what it’s all about. Check it out below:
If Andrew and Alicia’s chemistry seems really great, it’s because Alicia had a hand in choosing Andrew for the role of Nate! Andrew told TV Insider it was “just luck” that he happened to be available for the part, but Alicia countered with the fact that after Hallmark suggested him, she watched some of his work, and said “Oh yes, absolutely. 100 percent, no question.” She was sold on Andrew being perfect for the role of Nate in under two minutes!
Speaking of Alicia, she’s so excited about the movie’s premiere, she will be live-tweeting on Saturday! She explained all the details in her Instagram post alongside her co-stars:
You can see Alicia Witt, Andrew Walker, and Drake Hogestyn in action when Christmas Tree Lane premieres on Saturday, October 24 at 10 PM ET, only on Hallmark’s Movie & Mysteries Channel.
