Hailee Steinfeld is taking the lead in an upcoming romantic comedy! The actress and singer will be staring in Voicemails for Isabelle, which will focus on her character’s dating life in Los Angeles. According to Deadline, Sharon Maguire, the director of Bridget Jones’s Diary and Bridget Jones’s Baby, is set to direct the film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the speculative screenplay was written by Leah McKendrick. McKendrick was also the scriptwriter for the 2017 thriller M.F.A..
According to McKendrick’s Instagram post, she came up with the script by the voicemails she would leave for her sister while she was living in LA. She also expressed how excited she is that Maguire and Steinfeld are involved in making the film.
Steinfeld also stared in other comedies such as The Edge of Seventeen, Pitch Perfect 2, and Pitch Perfect 3.
Aside from her new projects, the actress recently spent time with her family in celebration of her parent’s 27th marriage anniversary. Hopefully Steinfeld’s character will have a happy ending of her own!
