‘Taking a Shot at Love’: Cast, Plot, Preview, & More on the New 2021 Hallmark Movie

Christmas may be over, but Hallmark Channel‘s not done rolling out new holiday movies! Taking a Shot at Love is their newest flick, which is a part of their “New Year, New Movies” event, so it’s the perfect way to kick off 2021. Taking a Shot at Love Cast + Plot

Taking a Shot at Love centers around hockey star Ryan Cooper (Luke MacFarlane), who suffered an injury and has to recover using ballet as therapy. Professional dancer Jenna (Alexa PenaVega) is the one to coach him through, and as the two spend time together, they form a connection. But, when Ryan’s due to return to his NHL career and leave Jenna back in Connecticut, they have to decide if the paths they’re taking are the right ones.

Luke MacFarlane is a Canadian actor known for his roles on the TV series Brothers & Sisters and Killjoys; not to mention, a number of Hallmark Channel original movies. His most recent ones include: A Valentine’s Match with Bethany Joy Lenz and Chateau Christmas alongside Merritt Patterson.

Alexa PenaVega is probably best known for portraying Carmen Cortez in the Spy Kids quadrilogy. She’s also appeared on The Tomorrow People, Nashville, and Dancing with the Stars. She’s been married to Big Time Rush‘s Carlos Pena since 2014. They have two kids together, and just announced a third on the way!
