Superstars Taylor Swift and Usher have joined NBC’s The Voice for the all-new season! The singers will be guiding contestants during this seventeenth season on their performance journeys. Keep reading to get all the details below!
What are Taylor and Usher’s roles on this season of The Voice?
Taylor Swift has signed on as a mentor for the Knockout rounds, which will begin in late October. Usher will be an advisor for the Battle rounds, and he’s been paired with Voice judge John Legend.
Before he became an advisor, Usher was actually a judge in seasons 4 and 6, the latter of which he won with Voice contestant Josh Kaufman. Usher is one of 4 celebrity mentors. The other 3 are: Normani (Team Kelly), will.i.am (Team Gwen), and Darius Rucker (Team Blake).
Taylor Swift has actually been on The Voice before as a mentor, but her second time around will showcase her experience. Fellow Voice judge Blake Shelton praised Swift, saying that, “she’s made for [this]. She’s super smart and she’s really good at looking at somebody’s performance.”
Any other details on the show?
Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Blake Shelton are all back as coaches/judges this season. Blake is in it to win this season, telling ET that he’s here to beat his fellow coaches.
Kelly is still in awe of working side by side with Gwen, as the two have known each other for a while, but never had the opportunity to work together. Apparently Gwen is one of Kelly’s idols! You can catch them all in action when season 17 of The Voice premieres on Monday, September 23 at 8/7 c on NBC.
