Titled “Connive and Strive,” the season 2 finale features “Backstreet Boys, Tom Cruise and Richard Branson” as “clues to discovering the identity of The Hustler,” according to ABC’s official press release. Given the celebrity nature of the aforementioned names, it’s easy to see that a knowledge of pop culture, film, or other media could be useful in this episode. Perhaps song lyrics could hold the key to a clue, or a Tom Cruise character could unlock a hint for one of the players.
The episode title “Connive and Strive” suggests that perhaps competitors will go to great lengths to get ahead in the game. It is the season finale, after all; so the “last chance” effort may be put to good use. Speaking of the players, the new competitors joining tonight’s finale are: Nathan Andrus-Hughes, Yvette Williams, Jenna Hilb, and Heidi Kennedy. There’s one contestant who’s not identified in any of the promotions, but don’t let that throw you: it’s just as likely they are not “the hustler,” either!
